All About Ragdoll cats

Ragdoll cats are beautiful cats and you're right, they are very placid, and docile and very lovable. They are a newer breed of the house cat family Taking good care of them is very important to their well being. They are a truly amazing and unique cat breed which have charmed many cat lovers. They are also one of the biggest house cat breeds. Ragdoll cats are docile and well balanced, calm and charming.

Ragdoll cats are sometime called lap cats, and this is therefore very true. They are low maintenance cats. They are one of the least aggressive cats and are always calm, loving and friendly. Rag doll cats are almost totally immune to allergies.

Ragdoll cats love to follow you around, like most other breed of cats. They are gentle and very beautiful and obedient pets. They are well-known by the majority of people who love felines, generally for numerous reasons. They are notoriously sociable creatures and usually require much more attention than other breeds. Ragdoll cats are considered the loveliest animals to have as pets.

Ragdoll cats are mostly always white with different shades of colors towards the extremities like the ears, tail and paws. As far as their health is concerned, They are prone to conditions like gum diseases. Ragdolls are large, big boned, alert, intelligent, and affectionate. Yet are extremely easy going, docile, non-aggressive cats, they love children. They are large, laid-back, semi longhaired cats with captivating blue eyes.

Ragdolls are exactly what you would picture them to be...loving and playful. They are slowmaturing, reaching full coat color at two years old, and reach their full size and weight at four. They are loving and patient cats, you can drape them over your arm like rag dolls, thats where they got their name from. They are incredibly docile, and as laconic as their name suggests. Ragdolls are adorable and beautifull pets to have at home and to include in your family albums. They seems proud and seem to know how cute they are by their royal look!

Ragdolls are famous for their personality, friendly to kids and strangers. They are not only sweet and loving, but also very smart. They are also incredibly easy to train, especially if you take your time and show them love. They will capture your heart and I hope you get to experience their love and devotion. Ragdolls are the cat for you if you want fun and loving cats with very distinct personalities.

Ragdolls aren't a demanding breed and are not regarded as vocal cats like Siamese. They are a relatively new breed, developed in the early 1960s in North America. They were recognised as a new breed in the United States only in 1967 and in Australia only around 1990. Some are bicolored have colored fur on their upper bodies. Ragdolls are easy to take care of and even though they have lots of hair they shed very little.

Ragdolls are an excellent choice of family pets. They are also often referred to as 'apartment cats' and don't require to go outdoor like other breeds of cats, the indoor life suit them just fine! Once every year they will moult heavily and during that short period will require grooming daily. Ragdolls are longhair and do need to be combed once or twice a week.

Ragdolls will acclimatise themselves fairly easily to a new place, even one that does have both children and other animals. Ragdoll kittens are slow-maturing, they are also very lovely and playfull. They are a favorite among many breeds of cats because of their timid temperament and beautifull fur and charming blue eyes. One of my close friend had a Ragdoll cat with one green eye and one blue eye. He loved that cat! They are best kept indoors to protect them from the outside dangers, for the simple reason that they are too docile and harmless.

They could get injured very easily by other animals, or adults who hate cats. They just thrust and love humans and other animals too much. That may render them defenseless in case of eminent dangers. But that's the expert opinions. On our farm ragdoll cats were free, they went outside and they still remained cleaned and healthy, none were ever harmed by other animals. After all they are cats, and fairly big cats at that! I woudn't worry too much about letting them out once in a while. But yes someone may be tempted to steal them! I would surely keep the kitten inside! Ragdoll Kittens Kittens are so adorable. They love to play and jog with kids and jump on each other for the shear joy of life

How to Make Your Home Safe for Cats!

Having a cat, or cats, is very much like having small children, only these furry little children are capable of accessing all areas of the household, including the highest shelves and narrowest nooks and crannies! Like small children, there are many household items that pose dangers to your cats, so it is important to completely cat-proof your home before bringing a kitty in to live with you and then maintain the safe environment.

Medications & Vitamins

Many household medications, prescription medications, and vitamins are extremely toxic to cats.
Just because many of these bottles have child-proof lids doesn't mean that they are safe to be out on the counter if they fall onto a hard floor the lid and/or bottle can break.
Also, child-proof lids can be closed improperly which means that even if just knocked over on the countertop, the lid may come off.
Coated tablets can be particularly enticing to cats.
Secure medicine and vitamin cabinets are essential, and always replace medicine and vitamin bottles to their proper storage place once finished with them - take your medications and/or vitamins promptly - don't leave them sitting on the counter where they can be ingested by your feline friend!

Household Cleaning Products

Just like medications, many household products are very toxic to cats.
Always have products in a secure cupboard.
When using cleaning products, shut your cat out of the room where you are working and keep the door closed and windows open until all remaining fumes and damp areas have been eliminated.
Do not use 'drop-in' toilet cleaners that are placed in tanks.

House Plants & Fresh Flowers

Many, many plants and flowers are extremely toxic to cats!!!
If you have a kitty, it's imperative that you not bring an unknown plant or flower into the household without accurately identifying and checking its toxicity information first!
If you have a green thumb and wish to have indoor plants or vases of fresh flowers around your home, you should not leave to go plant shopping without taking a list of non-toxic household plants with you:
http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/poison-control/plants/?plant_toxicity=non-toxic-to-cats
Also, if your kitty goes outdoors, use caution when planning your garden - avoid toxic flowers such as lilies in the garden.
Lilies are fatally toxic to cats - it only takes a bit of pollen landing onto a cat's hair-coat from brushing past the plant which gets ingested later during a grooming session for the result to be deadly acute kidney failure!

]]>

Long, Skinny, Stringy Things!

These are what we refer to in the veterinary world as "linear FBs" when they are ingested by cats - ie. linear foreign bodies
Linear foreign bodies are such items as sewing thread, dental floss, string, ribbon, broken elastic bands, and strips of fabric
Linear foreign bodies can be fatal, and quickly become surgical emergencies once ingested.
The intestines become bunched up on the object like an accordion in their effort to contract and push the object through the intestinal tract.
When the intestines become knotted up in this fashion, blood supply to the intestines is then compromised, toxic bacteria are released in to the abdominal cavity, and the patient goes into shock.
Don't allow your cat to play with ribbons unsupervised.
Use a sturdy, lidded garbage can in the bathroom, and always ensure that your dental floss is entirely within the can when thrown out
(It used to be recommended that cat owners flush dental floss down the toilet, but this has created significant sewage problems, particularly because many new floss types are composed of non-biodegradable material.)
If your kitty is particularly frisky and knocks over your garbage can, keep it in the bathroom cupboard where it is off limits.
Keep all needles and threads away from your cat - after a sewing project, clean up the area carefully, looking for any stray pieces of thread that may be lying around.
Cats are particularly prone to eating strings that have been used to tie up meats such as chicken or turkey - be sure to throw these away in a safe and secure garbage bin that will not be 'broken into'!

Windows & Balconies

Cats are notorious for jumping/falling out of windows!
Even if you live in a house in which the highest window is two stories above ground, it's still essential to ensure the windows have very secure screens in place.
Cats are more prone to suffering greater injuries when they fall from lesser heights than those that fall from greater heights (6 stories and above).

Balconies are another cause for "high-rise syndrome," which is the term used when a cat falls from a height greater than 2 stories - the term includes the cat's injuries sustained from the fall.
Just because a balcony is high does not mean that your cat will not jump or fall off of it - loud noises or construction may startle them so that they reflexively back away off of the railing or between the railings. A bird flying past can create a great enough stimulus that they leap for it instinctively.
Balconies should be fenced from the balcony floor to the bottom of balcony above so that jumping or falling off is an impossibility - there are many types of aesthetic fencing options available that will pass most building standards because they are visually unobtrusive.

Food Items

Moldy food can be toxic to pets because it can contain neurotoxic organisms.
Chocolate is highly toxic to cats and must never be left out on tables, counters, or even on shelving well-wrapped - chocolate should be safely stored in a sealed container in an inaccessible cupboard.
Onions and garlic are toxic to red blood cells and can cause anemia - onions, garlic, and products/foods containing onion or garlic powder should not be accessible to cats.
Rising bread dough is toxic because if ingested the heat of a cat's body will cause it to continue to expand and it will produce ethanol.
Grapes and raisins can cause acute kidney toxicity, and while it is not understood why yet this occurs, it has been more and more frequently documented.

Miscellaneous

Other miscellaneous household toxins that should not be kept in the home include moth balls, cigarettes, liquid potpourri, pennies, and silica packets.
Never allow your cat access to a room where paint, paint strippers, refinishing solvents, varnishes, lacquers, adhesives, or other volatile agents are being used.
Small, sharp, shiny objects.
Items such as needles, thumbtacks, safety pins, stud earrings, nails, screws, etc., make for very enticing play items for cats however, they are also extremely dangerous when accidentally swallowed, and should never be kept in kitty-accessible locations!
Broken glass, ceramic, or porcelain can be injurious. Even the most dexterous of us are guilty of breaking a glass or two on occasion, and the key to preventing injury to our beloved cats involves thorough cleanup!
Sweeping broken items does not remove all of the tiny shards of material that are barely visible to the naked eye and can easily lodge themselves in cats' paw pads.
Vacuuming the entire area where the breakage occurred, including a wide radius around the area is the most certain way to avoid injury from glass shards.

Understanding Pet Adoption Procedures

Pet adoption agencies are available throughout the United States and it is an excellent way to get your own pet. The adoption agencies in the U.S provide homes for the pets brought from animal rescues, animal shelters and humane societies. Some pets are brought there due to ill treatment by the pet owners or would have got lost having not having a family. Many of the pet adoption agencies work over time in order to find a constructive solution for the U.S pet population issue. They work hard in finding adoptable pets and provide them caring and loving family homes.

The websites of the pet adoption agencies provide the potential pet parents to search for a pet of their choice without any need of going to chaotic and noisy locales. You can search for your preferred pet of any breed, size, age, and sex and also even from any specific organization from where the pet came before it made its way to the adoption agency. The websites have pages that list photos of the animals offered by the agencies with their names, their place of birth or from where they came and such related information along with their preferences. Information like vaccinations, eating habits, likes and dislikes and health conditions are all available prior to pet adoption.

If you are not in a position to adopt a pet but you love pets and want to help them, then you can send your donations to the pet adoption agencies. They always welcome volunteers for helping them in services like pet adoption, administrative support, and marketing and fund raising events. There are many programs that facilitate pet lovers to play with pets for certain duration of hours. This service is offered especially to help those pets that are homeless and mistreated earlier, for spending time with loving and caring humans. All the pet adoption agencies provide help and extend their support for the families who have adopted pets recently and for pet adoption seekers. They offer advice on what kind of a pet can suit your family and in-house training. They advice you regarding separation anxiety, basic techniques on obedience, introduction of new pets and how to adjust the new pet with additional pets in your home.

You have multiple benefits in adopting a pet, which was already owned. By adopting a pet you are giving a chance to the pet to live with committed parents in a happy home. Many pet animals when adopted tend to be closer with your family. Initially after pet adoption some pets will be cautious and tentative but they will change along with time when they realize that they have actually been rescued it. When you adopt a pet it will reward you with the satisfaction that you have helped your community by some means. Though pet adoption is a lifetime commitment it will not be that hard for you. All these unfortunate pets are waiting for a chance to join with your loving families to take care of them very well. You always have this option of adopting a pet and a pet will make your family complete. One thing I want you to note and remember before I take you away, far away, is that above and beyond and besides all things and anything, I LOVE ALL THE DOGS! The pets that live in Fort Worth, all of Texas, here at Awesome Cutz, and all the babies I have never even met. Okay, now that we have that covered and out of our way let us begin this journey!

It is 6:30 in the morning, and I cannot tell for sure if Tiger or Joe has to go to the bathroom worse, but I know for sure I can not take them at the same time. They are both intact male, large breed dogs. Tiger is a Lapphund, stronger than any pitbull could ever think of becoming, but sweeter than a puppy in love. Except when it comes to Joe, my Beautiful Black Standard Poodle. I have trained Joe to "Walk away, and turn the other check, when a small dog acts aggressive towards him, but that would be unfair to teach him when it comes to a large breed dog. He does not like Tiger, because Tiger has dominated a lot of my time for the last three weeks. I've been training him to be obediant and Joe has not liked it at all. So I guess it's Joe, I'll walk him since he has been getting a lot less attention from me for the past three weeks. I've even slacked a little on his grooming due to Tiger's behavioral training requirements of my time. After all Joe's grooming is very time consuming, and requires brushing and cleaning his eyes almost every day. Sometimes when he gets stickers in his legs, I have to brush and groom him more than once in a day. He is a walking billboard for Awesome Cutz though, so he must look good at all times. People stop outside our grooming shop and take Joe's picture all the time. I belive one day Awesome Cutz will be a landmark for the city of Fort Worth. I hope to have clients from all over the world bring their beloved pets to me so I can make them look better than they ever have in their entire life. Back to the walking, Tiger's turn and he is dragging me to the yard, as he is trying not to pee on the petshop floor. So, I let him pull me, but I don't run, just walk briskly. Just as we hit the door, a client is stepping out of their automobile with what looks like a cockerspaniel/poodle mix breed dog that hasn't ever had a hair cut. I tell the client hello, and I will be right with them as soon as Tiger is finished taking care of his business.

I write down the clients information, and as I step around the pet shop counter to inspect the condition of the dogs hair, and it's size so I can quote an accurate price, I catch him hiking his leg on the corner of the counter. It's okay, I say, everyone else does it, that is why I put shower board on the base of the whole counter. As I get a litlle closer to the dog, I see fleas hopping and pole vaulting off of his body, everywhere. I tell the client I'll call as soon as I'm done, and grab the dogs leash. I head to the bathing area and put the dog in an enclosed kennel, and spray all over the floor in front of his kennel, to prevent a flea infestation of Awesome Cutz. Then I flea spray me, all over, then spray the whole path we took to the front door. Then pour some more outside his kennel, and then bleach mop the whole front of the pet shop, again.

I do not know how, but some how this dog has no mats, so I am going to deflea it first. The bugs fun when they see me coming, they know I am their exterminator. Shoot, I bet I've killed half of Fort Worth's Fleas Since I've opened Awesome Cutz, it is much better now than a year ago, a little flea product and a lot of educating goes a long ways in the grooming business. You should come check us out, be real happy to have and help you all, check our web site for more information. Thanks, Joelle

How About Naming Your Cats Properly?

In this day and age, a lot of things have changed from how they used to be, which can be new and exciting for most. Pet cats hold a very special place in the hearts of their owners. Wouldn't it be nice to give a pet cat the loveliest name one can think of?

Wouldn't it be great to give a pet cat a name that would reflect its personality as seen by the one who owns it or a name which would give recognition to the cat's breed? There are actually a lot of names to choose from in books or in the internet. But generally, how can an owner choose a name which he will find fit for his cat?

Many cat owners name their pet cats with human names. Actually, a whopping fifty percent of pet names are those of persons. This primarily is because there are owners who are enamored with a certain name and actually desire to christen someone, or something for that matter, with that favorite name.

Another basis for names is personality or appearance. In this category, examples are Midnight (should the pet be a black cat), Fluffy (obviously, if the cat is fluffy or has long, soft and bouncy coat) and Whitey (of course, if the cat is white). Pet names based on appearances or personality make up an amazing twenty percent of all pet names. However, unlike human infants where the parents can opt to wait for a few weeks to see the baby's personality before naming the child, cats must be named more quickly.

So how does an owner actually name his pet cat? Here are some tips which cat owners can give some thought.

First off, keep in mind that the name that the owner chooses for his pet cat will not only reflect the cat's character but also how the owner views his relationship with his pet cat. As much as it says a lot about the cat, the name given by the owner will tell much about the owner himself. It can then be seen how the name can portray an image of the characteristics of the cat. Many cat names give either a positive or negative impression of the cat. So, it is important to choose a name which will best convey the proper image of the pet.

]]>

A cat's name is for keeps. No matter which name the owner chooses, the cat's name should be that for the rest of his life. It is absolutely not fair to change the cat's name every two weeks just because the owner finds another name he thinks he might prefer. If the cat already recognizes the sound of its name it should not be changed.

Although the cat won't mind any name its owner may wish to use, it is just not fair to give the cat an embarrassing name. While the cat would not mind being named "Ooga Booga", it would be embarrassing for the owner to actually use this name. Imagine a person calling out "Ooga Booga" at least eight times a day every time he is looking for his cat. The cat's owner should find his pet a name which he will be proud to use. Also please remember to pick a name which will be appropriate when your cat is full-grown. A large tabby cat with a silly name like Mimi or Kitten seems ridiculous.

A name with two syllables will do best. The response of animals is better to two-syllable names. A cat owner may decide to give his pet a long name as well as a nick name. However, the longer name inevitably would be shortened, and this would probably ruin the effect the cat owner originally sought.

The cat's breed heritage may provide great ideas for names. For instance, if the cat owner owns a Siamese cat, why not name it Siam? If the cat is a Russian Blue, it would be nice to give it a Russian-sounding or Russian inspired name such as Sofia or Chekov.

Speaking of inspiration, there are a lot of things out there from which you can gain inspiration. As was said earlier, the name the owner gives his cat will speak just as much about himself. So why not pick a name for the cat which is derived from the owner's likes, hobbies and favorites? If the owner were passionate about world history, maybe the names Isis, Genghis, Voltaire or Osiris would sound very classy. If the owner were an avid fan of the Greek mythology the names Zeus, Athena, Hercules or Jason would be sure to make a good first impression on other people.

On the more contemporary side, names of characters from favorite movies, cartoon series, TV programs or bands will do just as well. Huey, Louie and Duey would sound cute as well as Bonnie and Clyde. A more posh touch would be naming your cat after signature designers. Tommy, Donna, Karan, Calvin and Gianni would not sound so bad for cats--just as long as they are well groomed as their names imply. Naming cats is not the easiest task there is, honestly. But it can be a lot of fun if these considerations and suggestions are always kept in mind.

Then no doubt, that perfect name will come easily. Wouldn't it be great for an owner to call his pet cat a name which is close to his heart and a name he will be proud to call out no matter what time of the day? Find out more by reading our other articles on this topic and other subjects we have written related to it.

Dogs have different grooming needs. How difficult dog grooming can be mainly depends on the type of coat it has. The chow chow dog breed has special clean up requirements. Their owners must know the necessary tools for tidying up its mane and coat. They must also discover how to groom the brutes to give them an impressive appearance. If you recently ordered a chow puppy, knowing the following tips is necessary.

First, you need to know what tools are crucial for cleaning up your dog. To groom the canine thick and rough or thick and soft coat, get a few comb styles. A course or medium steel comb and a tiny, fine-toothed and handled comb are important. Order a slicker or a pin brush and, a blow dryer too. The hair conditioners are also imperative, including shampoos, and hair sprays.

Prepare a special grooming surface such as a table as well and do not forget a pair of shears for trimming unnecessary hair. The bathing procedure is uncomplicated because you need to use some clean, warm water and shampoo. You must carefully scrub the chow chow dog breed to get rid of dirt on its coat, protecting his or her eyes from the soap lather. Rinse the dog's body until you are sure its fur is very clean.

]]>

Remove any dead fur from the dog's fleece, but most importantly, rinse all shampoo. If you leave any soap, it might irritate the animal skin and cause it some serious trouble. The next step is blow-drying the fur using a dryer. At this point, you may consider asking a person to give you a hand. Drying is easier if you lay the dog on his side on top of a flat surface such as a table.

Use a pin brush to comb the hair as you dry it and be careful not to leave any wet parts. The combs would also help you remove any dead fur. Nails and paws are the next grooming target. If your canine has long nails, cut them short, as they can ruin the feet or make walking difficult for the animal. Soon after a bath, nails are easy to cut because they become softer than usual.

Do not cut them too short as the nail can start bleeding and this would hurt the pet. Additionally, perform some thorough trimming outside of the foot and in between the toes and pads. Chow chow dog can easily learn to be patient and calm when being cleaned. To make them obedient, you need to give them lessons from their tender ages.

After this bath, wait for a week, two weeks or even a month to repeat the procedure again. Of course, brushing the skin and spraying the hair is an important part of the bathing procedure. A slicker brush would allow you to comb the long and thick coat as well as the medium or course accessory. To tidy up the chow chow dog breed and their abundant facial and leg hair, use a fine-toothed brush. If you think your canine coat need slight trimming, use the shears to groom it.

goal: to safeguard the welfare of the cats.

A lot of things must be taken into consideration before breeding cats. Here is a guide to help us better understand the dynamic process of cat breeding.

- A cat breeder's concern is the preservation or improvement of cat pedigree.

Cats are best bought from responsible cat breeders. Hobbyists choose to own purebred cats because their temperaments are more predictable than cats with unknown pedigrees.

If you are getting a cat from a cat breeder, ask him about the number of cat breeds that he has so you can choose from them. Also, ask him how many years he has been breeding cats and whether he can give you a health guarantee and complete papers for the cat.

Top cat breeds:

If you want to show off your cat then it is best to choose from among the top five cat breeds throughout the world.

1. Persian-Persian cats are called Persian for their country of origin. Persians have a long coat, sweet personality and have the ability to blend into the household. These are the qualities that made Persians one of the top choices of cat lovers. However, its long coat requires daily combing to avoid tangles.

2. Maine Coon-These are long-haired cats with good mouse hunting skills. These cats are good companions for children.

3. Exotic-This breed can offer you the better of two worlds. The Exotic cat has the look of a Persian cat, but it has short hair, making it easy to groom. They look like teddy bears with their thick and short coats. These cats are sweet and good companions like the Persians.

4. Siamese-Siamese cats originally came from Siam or Thailand. This cat possesses an aristocratic head, looks almost like a deer because of it's stiff ears, and has a short coat. Siamese cats have long bodies, long legs and long necks.

5. Abyssinian-These cats are very elegant-looking, much like the cats portrayed in Egyptian sculptures. Abyssinia is the former name of Ethiopia. However, Abyssinian cats did not originate in Ethiopia. They got the name because the first cats of Abyssinian breed, which were exhibited in England, were from Abyssinia.

No matter what your choice of a cat breed is, make sure that your cat is healthy and that it has already been weaned. The ideal age to get a kitten is about 14 weeks, when their immune systems are already developed.

Brushing your Golden Retriever regularly will help prevent shedding (especially important if you have allergies) and matting of his fur. Matting is not only unattractive, but it's uncomfortable for your dog as well. Brushing also helps you remove burs and other foreign matter that could threaten his health. Regular grooming will help maintain a shiny, healthy coat and enhance your Golden Retriever's quality of life.

Grooming your Golden Retriever is a time-consuming process. Grooming should be done at least once, preferably twice, ever week. You can expect to spend about one-half an hour in the grooming process. The first step in the grooming process is a good brushing. Brush the entire body, from head to tail. When you've finished brushing, you can use a comb to remove any remaining loose hair and help distribute oils evenly throughout your Golden Retriever's coat. While you're accomplishing hair removal, you can also inspect your pet's roots and skin for ticks and fleas or skin irritations. This will also be a good time to inspect his ears to be sure they're clean and healthy and trim his nails.

You should give your Golden Retriever regular baths, too. Though it's a little complicated, the path will keep his coat and skin in good condition and reduce your exposure to allergens. After brushing to get rid of tangles and loose hair, bathe your Golden Retriever with a shampoo designed specifically for dogs. Human shampoos are too harsh for a dog's sensitive skin. You'll find that two baths a month will be sufficient to maintain your Golden's coat. If you do it consistently, your Golden Retriever's coat will be easier to brush and clean.

Because Golden's have longer fur, it is important to prevent matting. Daily brushing will accomplish this best, especially if you use metal combs or brushes. Taking the easy way by cutting the matts out is not advisable, as it could injure your pet, and it will certainly detract from his naturally beautiful coat. Avoid using scissors for grooming. Brushes and baths are the best way to prevent matting and maintain your Golden's health.

Trimming your Golden Retriever's nails regularly is also important. Too-long nails are bad for your dog's health. They can split and bleed profusely. They can change the shape of the foot and cause other joint problems if they force your Golden Retriever to walk so as to protect the too-long nails.

If you have never done it before, it might be wise to take your Golden to the vet to learn how to do it properly. Most dogs don't like having their nails clipped, and you may pick up some good hints on how to do it without a struggle. When you do clip your Golden's nails, you should be aggressive, trimming them about 1/16 inch or 2 millimeters, from the quick. You can expect to see some bleeding now and then, so keep some styptic power nearby. You'll probably need to undertake this task every few weeks.

Now, about your Golden Retriever's ears. Their ears are easily infected if you don't clean them regularly. Ear infections are very painful for dogs, and you'll want to assure your Golden is free of this health risk. Symptoms that may indicate ear infections include head shaking and scratching the ears, painful reactions when the ears are touched, discharges or foul odors coming from the ears, and blisters, swelling, or redness on or around the skin. If you notice any of these symptoms, you should take your Golden to the vet before the problems get worse or become irreversible.

You should clean his ears once a week using a commercial ear-cleaning solution to prevent infection. Many people don't realize that hair can grow inside and into dogs' ears. Use a hemostat to carefully remove any hair inside the ear canal. Then use cotton or a cloth with the cleaning solution to gently clean no further than one-half an inch into the ear. Do NOT use Q-tips or alcohol to clean your Golden's ears. And do not use water or a syringe to clean his ears. Leave this delicate and sometimes dangerous task to the vet. If you use tools like a hemostat, be sure they are sterile.

Good, regular grooming is essential to the health and well-being of your Golden Retriever. It takes some time from your daily routine, but it also helps you bond with your pet. If you don't have the time, you should take your Golden Retriever to a dog-grooming professional. Now matter how you do it, you must assure that your Golden receives regular grooming and baths.
