Capstar Flea Control

Fleas are very annoying for dogs. They cause constant scratching and make it almost impossible for the infected pet to get comfortable. Fleas are a big problem for both house and outside dogs nearly year round and their tough eggs can make them extremely hard to eliminate. Capstar® flea control treatments work extremely well against flea outbreaks and generally bring comfort in 4 to 6 hours.

Prior to treating a pet with flea medications, always ask the dog's vet first. Capstar® can be purchase without a prescription but your pet's veterinarian should still be consulted. The Capstar® pill could interfere with your pet's medication and diet and a veterinarian or physician would be able to let you know if the dog can safely eat it.

It can be very hard to get an animal to consume something they are not used to, particularly dogs. So you might have to attempt some different ideas before landing on one that works. Begin by burying the flea pill in your pet's food. This is the simplest method as most pets do not look down at their bowl when they are eating. Once the dog is done, check to see whether or not the Capstar® pill was eaten.

If your pet did not eat the flea pill, there are still a few other effective ways to get him to. Such as inserting the Capstar® into a treat and feeding it to your pet. The pill could also be wrapped in a piece of turkey or peanut butter and given to your pet too. If the dog finds the capsule or eats around it and coughs it out, there is still one last, less desirable way left.

With your bare hand or special pill dispenser, put the pill in the back of your pet's mouth, preferably on the tongue. Hold your dog's mouth shut until the Capstar® has been eaten. You are most likely going to get accidentally bitten and slobbered on, but at least you will be certain that the dog consumes the capsule.

No matter which method you utilize to give the Capstar® treatment to your dog, be sure that the pet has eaten the pill afterwards. As with other pills, these tiny capsules are able to get stuck to the side of a dog's gums and teeth and many dogs will simply cough it out. When you are sure that the capsule has been swallowed, make note of what the time is.

For small or medium sized pets, the treatment should start working in as little as 4 hours. For bigger dogs it might take up to 6 or 7. If 24 hours go by and you are still finding fleas on your dog then simply treat him with the Capstar® pill every twenty four hours until they're eliminated.

Once your dog is declared flea free, keep him that way with some trusted flea prevention items. Medicated shampoos and flea collars will make sure that once the flea treatment has killed off the annoying critters, they stay gone. If you reside in area with a bad flea problem, think about getting your pet on a prescription flea treatment to keep him or her healthy and comfortable.
